- "Atlantis is all that remains of the greatest race to inhabit the stars."

Atlantis is a massive Lantean city-ship filled with untapped technology, believed to have served as the central nexus for all Ancient activity in the Pegasus Galaxy. The city itself is capable of space travel, and originally resided on the surface of Earth on the continent that became Antarctica. The Ancients left Earth with the great city between five and ten million years ago, bringing it to a planet in Pegasus to start anew after the Great Plague. Following a disastrous war there with the Wraith, its builders submerged their city in the ocean and returned to Earth through the Stargate. It would be found thousands of years later by a human expedition team led by Elizabeth Weir.
Now reawakened and relocated to M35-117, the city has again become a beacon of hope in dark times. A rallying point for those humans choosing to fight back against the Wraith, Earth has established a permanent outpost within staffed by its best and brightest minds.
